Titre de série : Equilibrium Concepts, Volume 1 Titre : Crystallization of polymers Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : 0, Auteur Mention d'édition : 2nd edition Editeur : Cambridge : Cambridge University Press Année de publication : 2002 Importance : 1 vol. (xiii-433 p.) Présentation : ill Format : 25cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-521-81681-6 Note générale : author index;refrences, subject index. Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Physique des Matériaux . 05-11 Polymeres Cristallisation Polymeres cristallins Index. décimale : 05-11 Résumé : First published in 2002, from an original 1964 edition, in the Crystallization of Polymers, 2nd edition Leo Mandelkern provides a self-contained treatment of polymer crystallization. All classes of macromolecules are included and the approach is through the basic disciplines of chemistry and physics. The book discusses the thermodynamics and physical properties that accompany the morphological and structural changes that occur when a collection of molecules of very high molecular weight are transformed from one state to another. Volume 1 is a presentation of the equilibrium concepts that serve as a basis for the subsequent volumes. In this volume the author shows that knowledge of the equilibrium requirements is vital to understanding all aspects of the polymer crystallization process, and the final state that eventually evolves. This book will be an invaluable reference work for all chemists, physicists and materials scientists who work in the area of polymer crystallization. Titre : Quantum field theory in condensed matter physics Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Alexei Tsvelik (1954-..), Auteur Mention d'édition : 2e ed Editeur : Cambridge : Cambridge University Press Année de publication : C 2003 Importance : 1 vol. (XVI-360 p.) Présentation : ill., couv. ill. en coul Format : 24 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-521-52980-8 Langues : Anglais (eng) Mots-clés : Quantum field theory Condensed matter Th?eorie quantique des champs Mati?ere condens?ee Index. décimale : 05-02-38 FS Résumé : This book is a course in modern quantum field theory as seen through the eyes of a theorist working in condensed matter physics. It contains a gentle introduction to the subject and therefore can be used even by graduate students. The introductory parts include a derivation of the path integral representation, Feynman diagrams and elements of the theory of metals including a discussion of Landau–Fermi liquid theory. In later chapters the discussion gradually turns to more advanced methods used in the theory of strongly correlated systems. The book contains a thorough exposition of such non-perturbative techniques as 1/N-expansion, bosonization (Abelian and non-Abelian), conformal field theory and theory of integrable systems. The book is intended for graduate students, postdoctoral associates and independent researchers working in condensed matter physics. (XVI-470 p., [8] p. of plates) Présentation : ill Format : 27 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-521-65214-8 Note générale : index Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : 05-08-Physique Atomique. Mots-clés : Rayonnement ultraviolet Rayons X Ultraviolet radiation Grenz rays Index. décimale : 05-08-01fs Résumé : This self-contained, comprehensive book describes the fundamental properties of soft x-rays and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation and discusses their applications in a wide variety of fields, including EUV lithography for semiconductor chip manufacture and soft x-ray biomicroscopy. The author begins by presenting the relevant basic principles such as radiation and scattering, wave propagation, diffraction, and coherence. He then goes on to examine a broad range of phenomena and applications. The topics covered include EUV lithography, biomicroscopy, spectromicroscopy, EUV astronomy, synchrotron radiation, and soft x-ray lasers. He also provides a great deal of useful reference material such as electron binding energies, characteristic emission lines and photo-absorption cross-sections. The book will be of great interest to graduate students and researchers in engineering, physics, chemistry, and the life sciences. It will also appeal to practicing engineers involved in semiconductor fabrication and materials science. Titre de série : Supersymmetry, Volume III Titre : The quantum theory of fields Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Steven Weinberg (1933-2021), Auteur Editeur : Cambridge : Cambridge University Press Année de publication : 2000 Importance : 1 vol. (XXII-419 p.) Présentation : ill Format : 26 cm ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-521-66000-6 Note générale : Author Index; references; Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : 05-07.Physique quantique. Mots-clés : Theorie quantique des champs Index. décimale : 05-07-07fs Résumé : In " The Quantum Theory of Fields " Nobel Laureate Steven Weinberg combines his exceptional physical insight with his gift for clear exposition to provide a self-contained, comprehensive, and up-to-date introduction to quantum field theory. Volume III presents a self-contained, up-to-date and comprehensive introduction to supersymmetry, a highly active area of theoretical physics that is likely to be at the center of future progress in the physics of elementary particles and gravitation. The text introduces and explains a broad range of topics, including supersymmetric algebras, supersymmetric field theories, extended supersymmetry, supergraphs, non-perturbative results, theories of supersymmetry in higher dimensions, and supergravity. A thorough review is given of the phenomenological implications of supersymmetry, including theories of both gauge and gravitationally-mediated supersymmetry breaking. Also provided is an introduction to mathematical techniques, based on holomorphy and duality, that have proved so fruitful in recent developments. This book contains much material not found in other books on supersymmetry, some of it new. Problems are included at the end of each chapter. This will be an invaluable reference work for all physicists and mathematicians who use quantum field theory, as well as a textbook appropriate to graduate courses.
